Welcome to Sign Hive, my name is Melissa.

I am a Signwriter making traditional hand painted and gilded signs on aluminium or glass. I cover a variety of interior and exterior signage, including shop fronts, window advertising, vehicles, advertising, murals, event signage, wall art, honours boards, a-boards, and personlaised gifts to name but a few.

Signwriting has been in my family for over 40 years. My father was an incredible traditional Signwriter, producing a vast amount of fairground work and signage in Fred Fowle style, amongst his many talents. I started off producing signs on wood and aluminium, however from the first moment I tried my hand at reverse glass gilding I was absolutely hooked! The process is just magical to me and never fails to excite.

I am currently open to commissions and regularly sell my own designs via my website SHOP. My glass signs are hand painted in reverse onto the back of the glass and gilded with 23ct gold leaf (or other genuine leaf), with optional abalone shell (mother of pearl) and glitter inlays. I don’t do prints at this stage. My signs are handmade original works of art, so you get a completely unique, bespoke piece. I also produce signs on aluminium.
